Long before Elon Musk’s Tesla was a thing, 80’s hair metal rockers Tesla took acoustic rock to a new level with the 1990 Album “Five Man Acoustical Jam”. At the time, lots of head bangers were turning down their Marshall stacks and mic’ing up their acoustic guitars thanks to the MTV Unplugged series as well as Jon Bon Jovi & Richie Sambora’s acoustic performance of “Wanted Dead or Alive” on the MTV Music Awards a few years earlier. Tesla’s live album spawned acoustic hits of their electric songs including “Paradise” and an acoustic cover of “Signs” which was written by the “Five Man Electrical Band”. But one of the biggest hits from the album included a shortened acoustic solo for the power ballad, “Love Song”. Here’s the full uncut intro solo by Tesla’s Frank Hannon!
