Tupac did it at Coachella. MJ did it at the Billboard Music Awards. And now the patron saint of Heavy Metal (yes, I understand the irony of that statement) Ronnie James Dio conquered death in the form of a hologram at the German Metal Festival known as Wacken Open Air. The hologram, sporting Dio’s trademark devil horns belted out “We Rock” with the band ‘Dio Disciples’ made up of former members of Dio’s band including Oni Logan (Lynch Mob), Tim “Ripper” Owens (Judas Priest), Craig Goldy (Giuffria, Dio), Simon Wright (AC/DC, Dio), Scott Warren (Dio & Heaven & Hell), Rowan Robertson (Dio), Vinny Appice (Dio, Ozzy, Black Sabbath), Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen) and Bjorn Englen (Yngwie Malmsteen & Tony MacAlpine). The lineup of the band varies depending on the availability of the players.

The company that made the hologram, Eyellusion, hope this will be the first of many shows that they can bring RJD back on the stage.
