Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve’s Man of Steel in the Richard Donner’s 1979 “Superman” and then in the 3 sequels, has passed away at the age of 69. News sources have confirmed that Kidder passed away at her home in Livingston, Montana over the weekend.

Kidder’s portrayal of feisty ‘Daily Planet’ reporter and Superman’s love interest is generally acknowledged as the quintessential Lois Lane.

Kidder is survived by her daughter, Maggie McGuane.
